Former Space Force commander to work alongside Hegsett as deputy Air Force secretary: President-elect Donald Trump

Former fighter pilot to become the next deputy secretary of the US Air Force, President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday night.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, the former commander of the U.S. Space Force, appeared on Fox News to discuss military readiness in July after saying he was fired for criticism “Marxist” complex of DEI.

Lohmeier, 2006 graduate US Air Force Academywas in the military for more than a decade before joining the space force in 2020, where he specialized in missile attack warning systems.

Less than a year later, he was fired, losing his pension, after appearing on The Steve Gruber Show to discuss his best-selling book, The Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Purpose to Conquer and Destroy the American Army.

According to a biography posted on Congress.gov, Lohmeyer was relieved of command and the subject of an Inspector General investigation initiated by the Pentagon.

After retiring from active duty in September 2021, he became a public speaker and consultant on “issues of Marxist ideology and tactics, CRT, military culture, and the preservation of freedom,” according to the biography.

In his nomination statement, Trump praised Lohmeier, writing that Lohmeyer “dedicated his life to the service of our Great Nation.”

“Matthew will be working with a GREAT candidate for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegsethto end the destructive ‘revival’ policies that have destroyed our military and make our country STRONG AGAIN,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Congratulations Matthew!”

Lohmeyer responded to X by thanking Trump for the nomination.

“I am grateful for your trust and look forward to continuing my service to our great men and women in uniform,” he wrote. “To all men and women who want to serve their country in uniform, join us now! We want you to be your best, smartest, and strongest at this critical juncture in American history.”

According to his biography, Lohmeier has a master’s degree in military operational art and science and military strategy. He lives with his wife and children in Idaho.

The US Space Force and the Department of Defense did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
