Forest Grab Late Winner against UCL rivals

Nottingham Forest won a 1-0 crucial victory over Manchester City’s reigning champions on the city, thanks to a brilliant strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The initial 45 minutes were closely played, with the two teams struggling to create clear opportunities.

The city dominated the possession, seeking to break down the well -organized defensive line of Forest, but lacked its usual fluency in the attack.

Forest, on the other hand, played the counterattack, using the rhythm of Anthony Elanga and Hudson-Odoi to exploit the space left on the high defensive line of the city.

The hosts had their first real opportunity when Chris Wood stuck to a long ball on top, but his attempt to damage Ederson had no power and was comfortably collected by the Brazilian goalkeeper.

The best opportunity in the city came when Nico Gonzalez tried his luck from a distance, his strike crashed outside the post. Phil Foden also had the opportunity to break the deadline, but saw his efforts near Nicolas Dominguez.

The second half began with the more attacking intent of the Forest, which seemed more and more confident in his approach.

They pressed the pitch higher and upset the city’s background line, especially through Hudson-Odoi’s haggling capacity.

City had a dangerous free foul outside the box, with Kevin de Bruyne Pas to take it. However, Matz Sels was equal to the task, making comfortable savings. Minutes later, a curly effort from De Bruyne sailed to the width of the post.

The progress came in the 83rd minute. Morgan Gibbs-White took the ball in the middle field and saw Hudson-Odoi in the space on the right.

The end was cut inside, took Josko Gvardiol and triggered a powerful shot to the nearby post. The ball was narrowed to Ederson and the net, sending the crowd to a frenzy.

City responded by launching more bodies in search of an equalizer. Pep Guardiola introduced Omar Marmoush and Bruyne to try to add a more attacking impulse.

Mateo Kovacic had a final opportunity, hitting a volley from the edge of La Caixa, but his effort whistled throughout the post.

Forest maintained a famous victory, much for the delight of his supporters. The ground of the city was in full voice, as the final whistle confirmed three crucial points for the house side.

The Nottingham Forest will try to rely on this impulse as they drive an end to the first four places. City, meanwhile, will have to regrouch quickly as they are chasing them in the last ten games.
