DETROIT — Ford motorThe company’s China operations made roughly $600 million last year despite challenging market conditions, CEO Jim Farley said Thursday night.
“I’m happy to say that Ford is making money in China, and I’m very proud of that, because not many (automakers) can say that,” Farley said after unveiling the car at the Detroit auto show.
Farley said those revenues include exporting cars like the Lincoln Nautilus, which is made exclusively in China, to other markets such as the U.S.
China is becoming an increasingly challenging market for automakers, especially for legacy Western companies like Ford and General Motors.
Ford does not report revenue by region, but Farley has previously touted the company’s evolving “asset reduction” strategy in China.
