Singapore believes that the “every generation” should have advanced training, not just for the young.
Speaking in CNBC Get off liveSingaporean Minister of Digital Development and Information Josephine Theo told Arjun Harpal CNBC that while Singapore is preparing for classes and universities, the country is also focusing on continuous education for those in the workforce.
“If we think what they left with the school will last them all their working life, I think it is not realistic,” she said. “In their 40, 50 years, which are actively working in the workforce, they may have to turn three, four, five, six times, and maybe more.”
She explained that Singapore would support workers under the age of 40 who want additional qualifications.
“We consider not only the young generation. We think of every generation,” said the theo.
There is a program in the city-state called “Learning for training in the middle of your career“What gives help up to $ 3,000 in Singapore ($ 2250) a month to make employees to take a job to go full -time.
“So, if you take two years for this program, it is $ 72,000 to exceed the qualification, forwarding and be prepared for the future. That’s how we look at it.”
This scheme will also be available for workers who want to take part -time courses since the beginning of 2026.
