The Foo Fighters have fired their drummer Josh Freese. leaving the musician “shocked and disappointed.”
The musician, 52, shared the news of his axis from the band by honest mail shared through its Instagram On Friday, May 16.
“The Foo Fighters He called me Monday night to let me know that they had decided to ‘go in another address with their drummer.’ No reason was given. 🙁 “Freese wrote.
He continued: “I enjoyed the last two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.”

As he reflected on the turn of events, Freese added that he was disappointed in the decision, and said he was unexpected.
“In my 40 years of profession, I’ve never been dropped from a band, so even though I’m not angry – a little in shock and disappointment,” he wrote. “But as most of you know, I’ve always worked on my own initiative and bounced between bands so I’ve been fined.”
Then joking, “Stay tuning for my best possible reason, Josh was voted from the Foo Fighters list. ‘”
Former Foo Fighters William Goldsmith, 52, among the people were responding in the comments section and appeared to be as shocked as Fresee.
“Say what?” He wrote. “Why? Want to play everything is not only perfect but go beyond what most are remotely capable?
He added, “I apologize but respectfully this makes no sense to me at all.”
Fans also shared their disappointment in the news, with one writing: “A strange law on their behalf. We want you to find yourself soon in a band you decide this is even better for you! And with Foo Fighters, there will be more good memories than bad ones. We embrace you because you are the best drummer for us! ❤️🙌”
Another said, “OMG this is not what I was expecting to read today. Josh Us Foo Fans loved you in the band. We will miss you and we will still follow you on IG.”
Remembering Taylor Hawkins. The son of the late drummer, Shane Hawkins, joined Foo Fighters for Friday’s performance, May 26 at the Boston Music Festival calling. Freese joined the Foo Fighters in 2023 after taking over from the recent Taylor Hawkins, who died in March 2022 After being unresponsive in a hotel in Colombia. He was 50 at the time of his death.
“The Foo Fighters family is ruined by the tragic and unholy loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the band wrote in a statement through X at the time. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us all forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask his privacy to be treated with the utmost respect in this difficult inadequate time.”
Hawkins joined the music group – which also includes Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Rami Jaffee and Franz Stahl – In 1997 after Goldsmith’s departure.
