Foden dedicates Manchester Derby Win to Ricky Hatton, as Haaland says that Man City “needed” this victory after the dominant screen against rivals

Phil Foden dedicated 3-0 victory of Manchester City on Manchester United rivals to a lifelong city boxer, Ricky Hatton, after his death on Sunday.

Hatton, 46, was found dead in his house in Manchester on Sunday, a few hours before the game at the Etihad, with the tributes that poured the “Hitman” before the launch.

The fans, players and staff honored the former heavy and heavy world champion with applause a minute before the city put a dominant exhibition, with FODEN opening the score after 18 minutes and Erling Haaland put in the second half in the second half.

Asked if Hatton’s death gave City more incentives to victory, Manchester -born midfielder said, “100%, he had additional motivation in the game, it was for him and his family and for the people he suffered right now.

“The boys gave everything. It wasn’t a beautiful game but it was all for him.”

FODEN SATENSE CRITICS

Jeremy Doku’s head of the Cross was the first goal of the FODEN season, with the International of England for criticism for the last 12 months for his screens below.

Foden admitted that it has been difficult to avoid the negativity that surrounds his struggles, but he hopes that his encouraging performance could be a springboard to return to his best time after scoring his first goal of the Premier League since January.

He added: “There have been many conversations. It is impossible (not hearing outside). Everything has been quite negative, but this is the world we live in when you play at the highest level.

“When you get out winning the player’s prize, the standards are higher and I understand.

“It’s about reading these comments, react as much as possible and back to my level.”

Haaland: The city needed that

City bounced off two straight losses before the international break, with Haaland saying that this Manchester Derby felt that it meant an additional thing for the fans.

Norwegian said, “You could hear it, we needed it. We always want to win the derby, but today you could hear the most.

“We must move on and keep it (foden), we need it a lot. This is what we need.

“We will help as much as we can do it as good as he.”

Guardiola: We need to improve yet

Manager Pep Guardiola insisted that his side is determined to return to the top of English football after a poor season in 2024-25.

He told the BBC Sport: “We are in a situation with a beginning that we did not expect and, of course, our opponents are so strong.

“We want to be close and still fight for the titles. The spirit was great, our players have a lot of pride and they want to try to do it on a special day. We saw our fans so happy and this is our job, so so privileged.

“We have many things to improve. We are not yet a team, but step by step. The victory helps us a lot. In the games we have had a lot of impetus and others not enough.

“They (Manchester United) have fantastic players and I know here we fight against them, we have the best results in Old Trafford.”
