Fisherman saved in 95 days, surviving on turtles

Peruvian fisherman, who survived 95 days lost in the sea in the Pacific, eating turtles, birds and cockroaches, was saved and reunited with his family.

Maxim Na Castro, 61, went to the fact that it was supposed to be a two -week fishing from the coastal city of Markan, on the South Peruvian coast, December 7.

Ten days in the thunderstorm undermined his boat, leaving it down with a decrease in the materials.

His family started searches, but Peru’s sea patrols could not find it.

And only on Wednesday, Ecuadorian patrol dishes Don f found it 1094 km (680 miles) from the coast, dehydrated and critical.

Maxim survived, catching rain water in his boat and eating everything he could find.

In an emotional reunion with his brother in the eaten border, on Friday, he told how the boats and birds ate before turning to sea turtles. The last 15 days were spent without food.

Thinking about his family, including his two-month-old granddaughter, gave him the strength to endure, Mr. Castro said.

“I thought about my mother every day. I am grateful to God for giving me a second chance.”

His mother, Elena, told the local media that, while her relatives remained optimistic during her son’s disappearance, she began to lose hope.

After the rescue of Mr. Castro was taken to Piait for medical evaluation before he was sent to the capital of Peru, LiMa.

There, at Jorge Chavez’s international airport, he was met by his daughter Inessa attacked an emotional reunification surrounded by the media. She welcomed him at home with a bottle of pearl, a national drink of Peru.

Standing out of the Mexico coast at the end of 2012, it was eventually found on the Marshall Islands in early 2014, as well as survived on rain water and turtles.
