Poppa house expired after only one season – but did CBS show find a way to get Damon Wayans Sr. and The essence of Atkins together first?
During the end of the series, broadcast on Monday, April 29, Poppa (Wayans Sr.) realized that he had feelings towards Ivy (Atkins) and was determined to tell her how she felt. But his efforts to find the very moment led him to almost miss his shot when Ivy’s ex-husband (played by Atkins’ former Half and half costume Coby bell) Re -refer the picture.
A cause of wrong identity made to think that a romantic note from Poppa is coming from her ex. But by the next day, Ivy realized that Poppa expressed his feelings for her in the sweet letter. Ivy tried to tell Poppa that she wanted to be with him, and that’s when Ex Poppa, Lola Poppa were broken.
Ivy chose not to tell Poppa how he felt but seemed conflicted about Re -romance with Lola. The final episode of the show ended with Poppa trapped between Ivy and Lola.
Poppa housewho first performed in October 2024, following the legendary talking radio host of Poppa, and her position was challenged at work when a new female cohost (ATKINS) was employed. At home, meanwhile, Poppa found himself still parenting his adult son (Damon Wayans Jr.), who was trying to follow his passion in balancing the responsibilities associated with being a father and husband.
Before CBS canceled Poppa house After one term, Atkins, 53, spoke Weekly US about how she wanted to see Ivy and Poppa’s love story plays out.
“At first, when we were starting the series, we thought it would happen sooner. But I think something very lovely about them became friends first and that they were growing in relation to each other and admiration for each other,” Atkins shared us in February. “Also, being able to see behind each other’s curtain, they have a little more threatening and a little more care about jumping forward.”
Atkins noted that Ivy and Poppa are becoming aware of their connection, adding, “It earns an awareness of similar, ‘Well, what do I get? It looks good, but what does the inspection report say when you buy a home?’ That’s wisdom, and I think that leads to a much more satisfactory consumption when it actually happens.
Despite the on -screen chemistry, Atkins did not want the sitting comedy to rush her character’s shot to a possible romance.

“These characters have won this proximity. We’ve seen them grow on each other. We’ve seen them get on each other’s nerves,” he added. “I like the speed we continue on. As long as how long it will take, I don’t know. I definitely think there will be the moments of this season where you will take it.”
