Fifteen suffered after accident when fighter bombs are omitted

Fifteen People in South Korea were injured, two of them seriously after a couple of fighters Local media accidentally abandoned eight bombs to the civilian district.

An incident involving the KF-16 air forces occurred around 10:04 local time (1:04 GMT) in the city of Pocheon, near the border with North Korea.

South Korean Air Forces said the incident was investigating and apologized for the damage, adding that it will compensate the victims.

While shells of live shooting sometimes land near civilian residences, they rarely cause injuries.

According to local media reports, two people suffered fractures on the neck and shoulders.

A 60-year-old guy was driving when an explosion remained in his neck, Yonhap reports.

“I was driving when I heard an” explosion “,” they said. “When I woke up, I was in an ambulance.”

“Our KF-16 (Jet Fighter) abnormally dropped eight mk-82 bombs. He landed outside the shooting,” Korean Air Force said in a BBC statement.

The military said the pilot of one of the planes mistakenly introduced the wrong coordinates, resulting in bombs fell into civil society.

Investigators have not yet determined why the second plane dropped its bombs, the military said, adding that all the exercises in the live fire would be suspended.

The incident also damaged one church building and houses.

Images published in the local media show the broken window of the building and damaged the roof of the church.

A local resident told Yonhap that he was watching TV at home when the explosion that sounded “like Thunderclap” shook the house.

The director of the nearby elderly care center stated that the windows of the building had crashed and one of them was taken to the hospital with injuries. While no elderly were injured, they said, “They were so scared that we sent them home.”

Pocheon authorities said the BBC earlier on Thursday that residents were evacuated and a bombs group worked on a safe disposal of any difficult bombs.

The authorities later said they found no difficult bombs at the scene, Yonhap reports.

The Ministry of Defense said the training on Thursday was related to a joint seeder with US forces.

South Korea and the United States must conduct combined exercises from March 10 to March 20 – the first after the return of US President Donald Trump to the White House. This happens at a time when both countries are increasingly wary of an increasing alliance between North Korea and Russia.

During the next joint seeding of South Korea and the US in 2022, the troops released a ballistic short range rocket that worked incorrectly and crashed on a golf course in the military base. While the fighting part did not explode, it still broke out and sent a panic pulsation to the residents of the area.
