France passed ahead of England in his open opening clash 2025, winning a 2-1 victory in a game that the drama saw, dismissed goals and a large number of late possibilities for lions.
The goals of Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore gave the hosts an advantage of the first half that England could not recover, despite a spirit of the second half and a goal by Keira Walsh.
The game started at a frantic pace, as both sides sought to impose early. England was the first to threaten, with Lauren James that the target was missing from the opening minute after a clean configuration of Alessia Russo.
A few moments later, it seemed that the Lionesses had taken lead when Russo found the net in the 16th minute, but his goal was fallen after a VAR review confirmed that Beth Mead was out of place in the accumulation.
France took advantage of the relief, gradually growing in the game, and stated control through the dynamic midfield duo of Grace Geyoro and Oriane Jean-Francois.
His efforts paid off in the 36th minute when Delphine Cascarino led a forceful counterattack, whipping a cross so that Katoto settles at home from closely, giving France a 1-0 advantage.
Three minutes later, the French doubled their advantage. This time it was Baltimore who reacted the fastest inside the six -gardens box, dropping the ball to the upper corner after the defense of England could not erase its lines.

The lions went to the break 2-0, frustrated and with work to do so.
England responded to the second half with a triple replacement just before the time mark, introducing her Toone, Chloe Kelly and Niamh Charles.
These changes added energy to the visitors’ attack, with Lauren Hemp and Beth Mead continuing to put problems on the flanks.
The pace of the game remained high as both parties exchanged blows. Katoto and Geyoro approached the leadership of France, but the goalkeeper of England, Hannah Hampton, removed a good savings rope.
At the other end, she had two shots blocked in quick succession after a dangerous hemp cross, and Grace Clinton tried his luck from a distance, but lost his goal.
England finally found a breakthrough in the 87th minute. After a corner that France failed to erase, Keira Walsh was in hand to combine a shot on the right in front of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin and the lower corner, and set up a tense end.
The lions stacked on the pressure in time of stoppage, throwing a wave after wave of attacks. Michelle Agyemang and Russo had blocked traits, while Clinton and Hemp approached equality with the equality of dying moments. However, France kept victory, despite the end of the game with his back on the wall.
The result was a bitter pill to swallow -on the side of Sarina Wiegman, who showed many promises, but was finally undone for two moments of quality in the first half.
The reigning champions now have a job to do if they have to do it outside their group.

Wales fell on a clinical side of the Netherlands, with the Dutch claiming a 3-0 victory thanks to the goals of Vivianne Miedema, Victoria Parova and Esmee Brugs.
After a promising start to Wales, which forced several early corners, it was the Dutch who reached the first half of the first half.
Miedema opened the score with a finish from outside the box, giving the Netherlands a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
The visitors doubled their advantage just three minutes from the second half, with Parova shooting down at the lower corner after a clean attendance by Danielle Van de Donk, who had his hand in all three goals.
Wales’ goal, Olivia Clark, produced various strong savings throughout the game, including efforts to deny Jill Roord and Lineth Beerensteyn.
However, he could do little to stop the third goal in the 57th minute, while Brugts got off the range nearby after a goal goal from a corner.
Despite the defeat, Wales had opportunities. Gemma Evans headed closely, while Rachel Rowe and Josie Green saw the efforts blocked from a distance.
The injuries greatly altered the rhythm of Wales in the second half, with Ceries Holland and Olivia Clark also the treatment.
