FC Koln Header Coach Turning Heads for the Old Unusual Touch Line

FC Koln kicked off its Bundesliga campaign in perfect style, winning the two opening games, the last dominant victory 4-1 on Freiburg. But although the results have been impressive, it is the manager Lukas Kwasniok who has been taking the spotlight.

Instead of the usual dress or tracksuit, the Polish coach has turned his head by donating Koln’s game shirts to the margin.

He brought the starting kit on the opening weekend against Mainz, before changing to the third kit for Freiburg’s shock.

Explaining the decision, Kwasniok said he wanted to show his dedication to the club.

“I saw the presentation of the shirt at a sponsoring event and got a chicken skin. And the same with the black sweater. Then the decision was clear to me: if I am allowed to do it, I will,” he said In a post-party interview, he pointed out the victory of Koln’s opening day on Mainz. “I want to commit to this club and I do it, and I also bring this jersey with pride.”

With a smile, he also admitted that there was a personal reason behind the choice: “I thought the combination of red and white red makes you look a little thinner. Of what I saw on television after the game, that didn’t work so well.”

Koln is now on the third place in Bundesliga only behind Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt. And with an impulse by his side, it is unlikely that no one else will matter to him if his manager continues to swing the club’s colors every weekend.
