A court in southern India sentenced a well -known politician in Karnatak to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping one of his home officers.
The verdict of the revenue, which comes from an influential political family in the state, happened on Saturday – a day after he was convicted of sexual attacks on his former employee.
The allegations against the 34-year-old Indian deputy first appeared in 2023 after hundreds of obvious videos involving him began to spread in social media, causing outrage across the country.
Revane denied the allegations. On Friday, he broke down and found a lesser punishment when he was found guilty.
He can appeal to the verdict.
Revanna -the grandson of the former Prime Minister of India, HD Deve Gowda whose party Jonata Dal (secular) is in the association with the BJP of the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is rare that a person with such influential political origin is punishable in such a case in India.
Ravanna left India In April 2024, using their diplomatic passport after hundreds of videos, they began to spread in his state.
At the time, Revanna did not comment on the video, but the official said from his office that the videos were recorded.
He was arrested a month after returning home from Germany.
It still faces two other cases of rape and one case of sexual harassment. He denies allegations.
