Family respect for the pope

Thousands of mourning continue to be submitted through the iconic basil of St. Peter, where the dead Pope Francis lies in the state.

BBC News correspondent Mark Lowen caught up with one family from New York, who described the opportunity to pay his last respect before the Pope’s funeral on Saturday as “an opportunity in life”.

“We just came here, and to see Pope Francis and just be here with people and Catholics from all over the world,” said Ben, which his wife Elizabeth and their four children joined.

“He brought so many people to the Catholic faith,” said Elizabeth, adding that Francis inspired her to “think about marginalized and people on the verge of society.”
