Netflix It’s not short of great TV shows to watch in June, but the same new miniseries standing out of the pack The survivors.
This Australian play is already become one of The most popular shows on Netflixand could even rise to Fan No. 1.
The show is based on Jane Harper2020 novel of the same name, and stars Charlie Vickers Like Kieran Elliott, a man who lost three people close to him at a tragic event 15 years before the main Story. Kieran’s brother, Finn (Remy Kidd), and their friend, Toby (Talon hopper), drowned. But the fate of their third friend, Gabby (Eloise Rothfield), less clearly.
The survivors’ cast
NetflixIn the present, Kieran increases the courage to come home after years away, with his romantic partner, Mia Chang (Your place), and their baby child by his side. Bronte (Berry Shannon), a young woman from outside the town, fostering the opportunity to start asking questions about what happened to Gaby 15 years ago. And that’s why Bronte’s body discovery begins a gripping story across six episodes.

Once Bronte’s body is found in the first episode, it not only fires an investigation in the present, but also revives interest in what happened to Gabby 15 years earlier. That puts Kieran and Mia in the midst of the developing mysteries, even as he dredges some hard feelings among his family.
One of the reasons the tension is so thick in Evelyn Bay is that this is a small town where everyone knows everyone. That makes the doubt and the Paranoia particularly enjoyable to watch, because the community is no longer sure who is to blame for the parallel tragedies. Kieran has taken on much of that burden for half his life, and only when the clues start to lead close to home will he go heavier.
Yerin Ha and Charlie Vickers in the Survivors
NetflixThe largest conflict in this series between Kieran and the unprecedented murderer, or even Kieran and the people of the town who has been judged for years. Instead, there is between Kieran and his mother, Verity (Robyn Malcolm), the woman who has never let him forget that she blames him for his brother’s death.
Sometimes, Verity is willing to be passive-indulgent towards his remaining only son. And there are other times when she doesn’t hide what she feels. Her condemnation of Kieran reflects his own inner turmoil and the fault he imposes on himself. They have both been carrying this inside for too long, and it’s going to end.
Ha also deserves to shout for her turn like Mia, because she has to deal with much of the emotional fall. Not only between Kieran and his mother, but also the tension he turns towards. Mia is also treated as an outsider unwanted by the rest of the town, possibly because she is Asian. That adds other wrinkles to Mia’s rejection to abandon Kieran when things get tough.
Berry Shannon in the survivors
NetflixDid not put away the finale The survivorsWe can say that this is miniseries instead of a continuous original Netflix. That means there is no cliff ending, and the show does not try to rope you to watch another season. By the end of these six episodes, you will know the full story of what happened in the past, which killed Bronte and how it all tied together.
More importantly, the collection closes emotional for the story. After these miniseries, there is no reason to revisit Evelyn Bay, but that will not be because the show did not achieve a thrilling story as promised.
