Fulham’s chief Marco Silva called for a lack of consistency in the application of the rules that cost him a victory against Manchester United this afternoon.
Cottagers won some of the boots thanks to the Igualada of the substitute Emile Smith Rowe But Silva was furious that two key decisions went against Fulham.
First, that United was awarded a penalty of the first half, which later lost Bruno Fernandes, who punched the bar, and secondly, that the visitors’ goal was allowed to stay despite a clear push on the back of Calvin Bassey by the defender of United Leny Yoro. Yoro took a look at the corner of Bryan Mbeumo, with the ball that crashed on the back net of Rodrigo Muniz.
Silva could not understand why Fulham had been punished by a penalty with Bassey, with Mason Mount at the same time that Luke Shaw fought with Muniz.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I would like to explain -all about the decisions Var this afternoon, but I can’t. I can’t. I could not be different in many different ways. They were incredible to see two offenses at the same time, Shaw in Rodrigo and Basse in Mount, both offenses, and they saw that Bassey Falla was half a second before the figure of Shaw in Muniz.”
Pre-League referees have been sorted to cling to the box of pieces, which caused VAR’s fact not further rule out the United’s opening.
Silva added: “Then the second (the goal of the United States). I think what I saw is what everyone saw at the stadium, everyone from all over the world saw it. Two players were isolated in the corner and one player pushed the other to run the ball. If you go through the rules, you know what will happen. I would like these types of decisions to be the same.
Bassey also assumed that one challenge was given as a lack and the other was not.
In his mount shuffle, half of the center said, “Of course, looking behind maybe a little strength. One of the ones I have to protect and put myself in a position to attack the ball.
“You’ve seen them donated and you didn’t see them.
“When you look at everything in Slo-Mo, it will always be a free kick.
“The Ref must consider the difference in force. If someone is my size, it doesn’t look so bad.”
From Muniz’s own goal, he said: “For me, of course and obvious. He has two hands on his back and he (Yoro) has created an advantage for himself.
“If there is no contact, I get up and fight with him. He has clearly prevented him from reaching the ball.
“For me, it should be clearly a free kick.”
Despite her anger, Silva was happy with the screen on her side with Fulham Recording 1-1 on her return to start the season after the last weekend’s stop in Brighton.
“Man Utd started better than us,” the Portuguese admitted. “The first 20 minutes were better, we lost most of the 50-50 duels and when you lose duels you arrived in situations late. They had the ability to start creating problems.
“It took us a long time to adjust -things in terms of reacting and making the right decisions about the ball and let them press them in the way they like it. After we started installing -a little in our game and we started to find our three midfielders and to create a superiority and, from there, the game was more balanced.
“In the second half we were better, even when they marked it was at our best in the game. Our reaction, our composition and their mentality of the boys were higher.
“The players who entered the game in the second half had a massive impact. After 1-1 we were more on the front and only reached our box in pieces.
