Former Indian Irfan Pathan has a bold prediction in Shubman Gill ahead of the next Asia Cup 2025, which will begin on September 9 at the United Arab Emirates. Pathan also stated that Gill can become the captain of the whole format of India, given his appointment as vice-chic for the Indian team for the Asia Cup.
Gill, who last played a T20I game for India in July 2024, has been appointed Vice-Capitan of India. “The compartments will be guided by the way the engine works. Players need to know who the engine is. The signal must be sent to them. They need to be aware that Shubman Gill is the leader. And I agree with this thought process,” he added.

Irfan Pathan also said that having three captains for three different formats is not a long -term solution. Pathan stated that Shubman Gill will assume the captaincy of all formats in the future, taking into account his success in the IPL and England series.
“I don’t think three captains for three different formats work and not a long-term solution. Gill as a captain of all format for a period of time is the correct way to do so,” Pathan continued.
“Yes, it will improve and get better. And he is not only captain of the England series. He has been captain in the IPL and has done well. Now he is the Red Ball Captain of India and he did it well in England. I do not see it as a problem if he is given captaincy through formats in the future.”
Shubman Gill got into the future captain of all Indian format
