Estonia condemns the “brazen” violation of the air space by Russian aircraft

Russian military aircraft violated the Estonian air space, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in Tallinn, condemning the invasion as “brazen”.

It states that three Russian Mig-31 fighters “entered the Estonian air space without permission and remained there for 12 minutes outside Finland.”

The ministry states that the Russian Charge was called “protest”. EU’s best diplomat Kaj Kalas called the invasion as “extremely dangerous provocation”.

Estonian media report that Russian planes when their transponders were excluded in NATO’s air space.

The Russian military has not publicly commented on this issue.

In a statement, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna said the invasion of Friday was “unprecedentedly brazen”.

He continued: “Russia increasingly testing and increasing aggressiveness should be fulfilled with a rapid increase in political and economic pressure.”

The minister added that Russia has violated Estonia four times in 2025.
