Erik Menéndez and Lyle MenéndezLegal issues led to two high-profile trials-but Where are the key players of their murder case now?
The parents of the Menéndez brothers, José and Kitty Menéndez, They were found dead at their home Beverly Hills in 1989. After Lyle called police, they discovered that José was shot six times and Kitty was shot 10 times. Lyle and Erik were not of the initial interest but they were arrested a year later after their sessions therapist recorded where they confessed to the murders.
During their high profile trial, the brothers accused their parents, José and Kitty, of alleged physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Erik and Lyle were convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life without parole in 1996.
Their case have received new support In September 2024 after becoming a focal point Ryan Murphy‘S. Monsters Series. However, Erik Slamio made how he was portrayed and Lyle in a public statement. Less than a week left Monsters released, Netflix announced that Lyle and Erik interview them for The Menéndez brothers a documentary a documentary. The October 2024 statement contains pictures of conversations with a juror Betty OldfieldKitty’s sister Joan Vander Molen and prosecutor Pamela Bozanich.
In the midst of the new interest in their case, Erik and Lyle were heard a new hearing for their case. The Los Angeles District Attorney Office recommended in October 2024 that the sentences of Erik and Lyle be reduced and were re -published in May 2025 to 50 years live. This made them eligible for future parole.
