On several occasions, the World IBF World Champion, Jaron “Boots”, Ennis, mentioned one of his career goals, and on Saturday night on April 12, Ennis will have the opportunity to approach a step when he faces the WBA World Welterweight, Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 kos) champion.
This battle between the two uninviated champions will take place in Boardwalk Hall of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Air Live in Dazn. The two men will enter the ring as a champion, but only one will go out with the WBA, IBF and the belt of Ring Magazine.
In October 2021, after collecting his 28th race victory with a first round on Thomas Dulormón, Boots Ennis proceeded to call Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. Neither Crawford nor Spence showed an interest in facing Ennis because, at that time, it would have been a high risk, a low type of reward.
Ennis continued to win, and in January 2023 he defeated Karen Chukhadzhian and won the vacant heavy weight title IBF. Ten months later, the undisputed champion Terence Crawford was stripped of the World IBF title and Ennis was elevated to the full champion.
Boots Ennis made a great career in April 2024 when he logged in with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing. Philadelphia native had his first defense of the IBF World Title in his hometown at Wells Fargo Center when David Avaneyan detained in the fifth round.
Four months later, Boots Ennis would have a second consecutive defense of the title in his hometown, as he faced a family opponent. The first struggle between Ennis and Chukhadzhian had no action, but Ennis was able to raise a unanimous decision victory.
The second struggle was much more entertaining, but unfortunately for Chukhadzhian, he again lost by a unanimous decision. Now Jaron “Boots” Ennis (33-0, 29 kos) is willing to follow the first step in achieving a career goal.
Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue have set the bar without being indisputable in two different classes of weight. Boots Ennis has its views when it becomes indisputable in 147 and, if he wants to pursue, he could try to duplicate the feat in 154.
As a guest in the noon program “Way Up” with the host Angela Yee, Jaron Ennis spoke of his career goal of being indisputable, but also emphasized the fact that he wants to stay focused on his next opponent.
“This is what I am here to know. I am locked right now in Stanionis, and once I win these belts next Saturday, I become WBA champion, champion of Ring Magazine and IBF champion and unified linear champion in the world, we will see what is later, but right now I am closed with him,” said Ennis.
Jaron “Boots” Ennis has all the tools needed to build a legendary boxing career. The unification combat will be the first step in terms of Ennis bringing his brand to the next level. If you defeat Stanionis on Saturday, you will be able to place the WBO champion, Brian Norman JR, and the WBC champion Mario Barrios on his radar.
