Shoaib Bashir, who destroyed the heart of billions of Indians by firing Mohammed Siraj to seal a victory for the three lions in the Lord’s test, has been ruled out of the fourth and fifth test due to a hand injury.
His replacement, Hampshire Spinner Liam Dawson, has constantly acted in the domestic cricket and has been making his first appearance since July 2017.
In the meantime, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett will continue to be openers and will be followed by Ollie Pope and Joe Root at number 3 and no. 4. Harry Brook, Pattern Ben Stokes and Wicketkeeper’s Batsman, Jamie Smith, take the next three places at XI performance.
Also, Chris Wokes, Brydon Cars and Jofra Archer have been named three front -line pacers, as Gus Atkinson lost the selection.
“The men in England have made a change to their XI for the fourth Rothesay test against India in Emirates Old Trafford, from Wednesday, July 23,” the ECB said in an official statement.
“Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson replaces the wounded shoaib Bashir. This will be the first Dawson appearance since July 2017,” added the ECB.
Playing XI: Zak Crawley, ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), Jamie Smith (WK), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer.
Speaking ahead of the Manchester test, the English patient Brydon Carse said that the Lord’s test against India was the best game he has played so far in his international career.
He added that he was absolutely delighted after the ball was shot on the bumps to say goodbye Mohammed Siraj and India lost 10 doctors. Brydon Carse said:
“You wanted to fall on my knees, almost. It was incredible, after all the hard work that the group did during these five days. It was the best game I participated in England.
“And, since talking to the boys who have played many crickets and franchise tests, such as Harry Brook, with whom I get very well, he said that it is his best victory of the test. So to listen to the group and share these thoughts after the game, it was a special sensation,” said Carse to Espn Cricinfo.
“Once we got off this field and walked around the long room, it was an incredible atmosphere … really strong.”
