A movie icon Ellen Burstyn stepped out for the appearance of a red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival to celebrate one of largest movies. Requiem for a dream.
Burstyn joined, 92 Brendan Fraser In a panel held in honor of the 25th anniversary of the film. She shone in a bright yellow jacket as she took the stage with her former costar.
Director Darren aronofsky Also present at the event, recognizing the legacy of the 2000 psychological drama, which also starred Jared feto and Jennifer Connelly. Once released, the film received great reviews, and the compelling story based on the 1978 novel of the same name has resisted the test of time.
While walking into the incident, Burstyn signed signatures and took selfies with fans waiting outside. In a Tiktok video posted by a fan, someone could be heard referring to Burstyn as “Sara Goldfarb,” the character she played Requiem for a dream. “That’s me!” He said playfully.
As she made her way on the red carpet, she snuck up behind Aronofsky and wrapped her arms around him before giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Aw,” could be heard saying behind the camera in the Tiktok video.
Requiem for a dream remains one of Burstyn’s most memorable roles to date, and taught one of the biggest pieces of advice she ever had in her career while on the film set.
“The scene in the film where Sarah goes to the TV station, Darren gave the best piece of direction I ever had in my life,” he said during the October 2020 interview with Entertainment tonight Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the film.

“But then instead of stopping, he said, ‘Okay, we have that, it’s in the can. Now just do another and do whatever you want,'” he remembered. “So I felt I had been doing whatever I wanted, and I had done it four times, and it was good. I don’t know why I have to do it again, but right.”
He continued, “And then, something happened. And the fifth take that is what’s in the film because what he did is for him to take all the obligations where I didn’t have to do in a certain way that I didn’t have to do the way it was in my mind. I did it, and something else came through, and the truth was quoted and you have Lessons and you have to have you and have to be lessons and allow it.
