Eddie Hearn questions the future of Hamzah Sheeraz, if July 12, July 12

Promoter Eddie Hearn says he does not know where Hamzah Sheeraz can go if on July 12 he is eliminated by the heavyweight heavyweight contestant next month on July 12 at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.

Sheeraz: Appeal of UK fans

Hearn claims that Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 kos) would return to the British domestic scene if he loses in Berlanga (23-1, 18 kos). Berlanga-Seeraz are two fighters in the Canelo Alvarez Sweepstakes race for 2026.

Hearn says the winner of the fight has the opportunity to fight the Mexican superstar next year. Sheeraz has not yet fought against Canelo, and he would be the best option if he could somehow achieve this struggle with Edgar with a victory.

Sheeraz would contribute to UK fans and create a lot of interest in a clash against Alvarez. Berlanga already had his chance against Canelo and launched her playing -safe and only trying to survive. Boxing fans do not want to see a resuscitation between them. Once in life was enough.

“You will arrive until 168. If they leave you out in 168, where do you go to Earth?” said Eddie Hearn to Ring Magazine On what Hamzah Sheeraz is against his fight against Edgar Berlanga on July 12. “Wait a world title. You’ve lost worldwide. You go back to the domestic scene.”

Sheeraz’s last struggle against Carlos Adames has already shown that he is not a world class. It would still be above the national level in the United Kingdom, but not world class. Hamzah’s performances against the Adames and Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams showed that it is a level below top level.

“His excellence (Turki Alshikh) is looking for boys by 2026 for Canelo matches, and Hamzah Sheeraz is very commercializable. It’s a great story. It has been a large part of Riyadh’s season,” said Hearn. “This has been a great time for Hamzah Sheeraz. A new coach in Andy Lee, who, in my opinion, is one of the best coaches in the world. If they get this play plan, they can beat Edgar Berlanga. But it will be a very dangerous struggle.”

It would be bad for any of these two fighters to fight Canelo in 2026. Berlanga already lost with him in a unilateral decision in 2024. Even if Hamzah is victorious against Edgar on July 12, he did not deserve a fight against Alvarez.

Berlanga is more than a marketing project than a real fighter. It has been created by its promoters and is not really world class. A record of 23-12 as an amateur and coincided with 16 tomato cans at the beginning of his career for the first rank, trying to make him a star on the east coast in the easy way. If Sheeraz surpasses Berlanga, it does not mean anything. It should start fighting quality contestants if you want to fight Canelo.

“When Edgar Berlanga really believes in himself and he likes his job, he is dangerous. I think in his head, he thinks he will look very well against Hamzah Sheeraz and he will be out,” said Hearn.

Sheeraz’s 168 challenges

Berlanga is fighting Sheeraz at the right time, and made his debut in 168.Theraz’s last performance was atrocious against WBC’s middle weight champion Carlos Adames last February in Riyadh and was fortunate enough to receive a draw. Most boxing fans had won the ads.

There are better fighters than Sheeraz in 168, but who made the election for this event gave Berlanga a lucky break. They could be put with someone good and would go to another loss.
