We are at least four months apart Nintendo Switch 2 official versionbut peripheral manufacturers beat Nintendo to the punch. Judging by the latest trailer, Nintendo next generation dockable handheld will probably feature a new Mario Kart game, and a creator wants you to drive with your JoyCons in style.
Friday, Nintendo Life first blow to the accessory manufacturer Nacon’s first peripherals. These include a steering wheel with docks for the new JoyCons. The €29.90, or about $30, wheel uses suction cups to stick to your table or desk when you’re taking intense turns in a yet-to-be-announced mascot-themed cart race. It has two modes, one standing and one flat, a unique feature that you don’t normally get with many similar steering wheels. However, it’s not something we haven’t seen before with the original Switch, which also includes motion controls on its JoyCons.
The first renderings of the Switch 2 controllers look nothing like Nintendo’s recently revealed device, especially the joysticks, which lack the large overlapping bezel. This is likely another device designed around the specs sent to peripheral manufacturers before Nintendo could announce its Switch sequel. Nacon also has a few silicone-embedded JoyCon covers, some Switch 2 outer covers, and a carrying case.
Nacon’s peripherals are fueling fans’ suspicions that we’re finally due a sequel to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Although footage of the game appeared for a few seconds in the Switch 2 reveal trailer, fans have already seen that there could be up to 24 runners on the track at once. Fans have also noticed that the Donkey Kong character model looks like how it appeared in the Movie Super Mario Bros ca in the car racing game for almost 8 years.
Thanks to their leaks, we know that Dbrand, Genki, and probably many other small brands are planning to share their own Switch 2 accessories. DBrand’s Killswitch case includes a cover and an additional kickstand to go along with the U-shaped stand of the Switch 2.
The original images of Genki seem particularly interesting, considering that they revealed initial mockups of the new JoyCons, which were practically identical to what Nintendo revealed on January 16, down to the blue and red accents around the joysticks. Genki also shared a charging dock big enough to fit two couples together.

We already know a lot of third-party cases thanks to the obscene number of early device mock-up leaks. However, we have nothing that suggests new capabilities for the Switch 2 JoyCons or the console itself. Based on Nintendo’s video, we can only speculate that the controllers could function as a mouse when they are placed on a table. We’d also like to know if the Switch 2 dock adds graphics capability to the laptop. Rumors and leaks suggest the Switch 2 it could support 4K resolution when it is docked.
The unknowns continue to drive the collective wild, not an ill-considered idea that these brands have ruined “the surprise”. On Friday, the original director of Bayonetta and the current lead in a sequel to Okami, Hideki Kamiya, he wrote on Twitter how much he despised leakers. According to a machine-translated post, he said: “I hope that whoever leaked the Switch 2 information will be cursed for the rest of their lives to have poop on the soles of their shoes every time they walk home “.
He continued, “… Now that I got the surprise announcement of Okami with all the users, I really believe that … all those damn leakers should be damned … The shitty leaker is only acting for his own pleasure and self-satisfaction , not alone. He does not contribute to the benefit of anyone, he incurs all kinds of losses of opportunity, and he has done nothing to be proud in front of others.”
Former Nintendo PR manager Krysta Yang shared a very similar sentiment about her YouTube channel alongside former Nintendo employee Kit Ellis. She said she was “100% sure” Nintendo was “really mad… very, very, very upset” by the leaks, saying Nintendo would have a harder time surprising fans. Ellis said Nintendo’s regular processes to control the spread of information “didn’t work,” and the leaks were “exacerbated by (Nintendo’s) mentality that they could control everything.”
Nintendo had been working on the Switch 2 for years and only offered the barest bits of information at the time. The corporate accounts of the company had eventually confirm the existence of the console for investors, not fans. The closed-mouth attitude of Nintendo created this salivating feeling among all those who were not directly in the know. If someone is going to throw poop off their shoes, Nintendo should look at their soles first.
