Droids Menace Phantom Star iconic Wars inspired by alien skeletons

Star Wars prequels remain controversial among the bandom, but few can deny that these films have some murderer designs. Few of those designs are more memorable than the B1 Battle Droids series, the disposable clanists to a large extent who love the consignment of strange catphrases like, “Roger, Roger!” But what most fans don’t realize is that this great design has a slightly chilling secret: originally these droids were designed to resemble the skeletons of the neimoids.

That is a trivial factoid that was included in Star Wars episode to the Visual Dictionarybut such trivial was very confusing for anyone who actually watched The Phantom Menace. That’s because the nimoids (the goofy green men who germinate memeworthy lines like “this goes out of hand, now two of them!”) Look nothing Like the B1 Battle Droids series. However, it turns out the Seer refers to the original design of these alienone who changed during production.

The early concept art of the Neimoids shows that they have very thin faces, and it is easy to see how the B1 series battle droids are supposed to look like the skeletons of these spectacular aliens. Back then George Lucas intended to bring these exotic alien villains alive using CGI. Eventually, though, he decided that the neimoids should look a little more like the alien Duros, which is why we had new designs and animatronic masks (mercifully) for these characters rather than pure CGI.

Of course, the design change to the nimoids back active meant that the design for the B1 Battle Droids series didn’t make much sense. Why, some fans wondered, would an alien race make bipolar robots that didn’t look anything like themselves? Star Wars may take place in a distant galaxy, far away, but here on the ground, it is not a coincidence that most of our own walking robots are designed to look human.

Credit where credit is due, George Lucas effectively solved this problem in The attack of the clones. We discovered that the Neimoids did not create the B1 Battle Droids series they used to overcome Naboo. Instead, these droids were created and other separated clanists by the Geonosians. And if you look carefully at the insect -like Geonosians, you will find that their design is very directly based on the original concept art for the Neimoids.

This means that what Chapter 1 Visual Dictionary Telled us indeed … from a specific point of view. The B1 Battle Droids series was still based on the skeletons of their creators, but The attack of the clones He confirmed that those creators were Geonosian rather than Neimoidian. They appear to be the only separatist droids based on Genosic Physiology, although, as Super Battle Droids, Dridekas, and other eerie clanists seem very similar to their Gritter -like creators.

If nothing else, this strange little story about the Droid Battle Droid B1 design is a reminder of how much work went into Prequels Star Wars and how many won those films over a whole new generation of fans. With any luck (and perhaps the will of the police), those fans can keep the franchise alive in its falling years. Ever since Disney Buy Star Wars, they seem to believe that “Roger, Roger” is less of a cute custody and more like Kathleen Kennedy’s personal instructions for what authors need to do with this franchise with each film New.
