Country singer Drake White and his wife, White ALEXmourning for a tragic loss in their family.
The couple shared on Sunday, September 7, that their little girl died shortly after she was born a week before. In a joint post on Instagram, the duo explained that their daughter arrived early 29 weeks and died 20 minutes after her birth.
“On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, peacefully went with Jesus,” wrote the couple, noting that Della weighed 3 lbs and 3.5 ounces at birth. “We are so grateful for the holy moments that God has given us with her. The Lord has been so close to us and close to us during this difficult time. He has caught us up and sustained us all.
They also quoted the Bible verses from the Book of Psalms, including the lines, “I die from my care; my years are shortened by sadness. Distress has drained my strength; I waste away from the inside. But I trust you, O Lord, saying, ‘You are my God!’ My future is in your hands.
Drake and Alex’s post included a black-and-white photograph that showed them with their little girl in hospital, with Alex in the newborn cradle in her arms as Drake, 41, set his arm around his wife’s back.
The couple’s friends and colleagues were quick to offer their sympathy, with Jessie James Decker Write, “I am so angry. I love you and I pray for you all. No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your daughter will always be in your heart and watch over you.”

Drake and Alex are already parents of the son of William Hawk, 2. In May, they announced that they were expecting their second baby, which was conceived in March via IVF.
“Sharing the news with our family and friends has been one of the best parts of the whole pregnancy,” Alex told Alex People at the time. “We love seeing them as excitedly as we are to welcome a new baby to the world.”
Drake noted that, for his part, they were planning to name their daughter after women in their family.
“We’re going to use family names and name it after the two Alex grandparents,” he explained. “We feel so wonderful and grateful to grow our family by miracle IVF.”
