Drake is the latest celebrity to support a similar contest in his honour.
The rapper, 38, said he would award $10,000 to the winner of a competition held in his hometown of Toronto on Saturday, December 14.
After Toronto’s Casuals Bakery announced the similar contest, the “God’s Plan” rapper hit the restaurant via Instagram last week. “I’m adding 10 bands to the competition to look alike… as the top prize,” Drake said in a direct message share publicly by the bakery on Thursday, December 12.
The owner of Casuals wrote alongside a screenshot of the exchange, “I can barely type and a complete shock went through my body. But yes this is true and real and I hope the Drake doppelgängers are ready 🔥 LETSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOO.”
A similar competition was won on Saturday by a female fan wearing pigtails like Drake’s see sports in October and pulled on a beard, according to a video shared by the bakery.
A Drake-like contest follows similar contests around the world that celebrate their ilk Timothée Chalamet, Paul Mescal, Glen Powell, Zayn Malik a Harry Styles.
Dunes star of Chalamet his similar match broke up in Washington Square Park in New York City in October. Chalamet, 28, appeared to have slipped into the crowd wearing a baseball cap and black mask before eventually revealing himself and stopping to take photos with excited fans.
Miles Mitchella contestant from Staten Island who dressed as Willy Wonka won the event. Mitchell, 21, said Us Weekly he would “buy a bunch of chocolate” with his earnings.
In November, Hit Man star Powell, 36, winner of a similar competition held in Austin, Texas, promised cameo in his next film for a family member.
“Look, I know there’s some cash and a hat at stake here, but I want to say that the winner of today’s contest is getting a personal award from me,” Powell said in a video shared via X. “Now you might know that my parents make a cameo in every film I make, but today, the winner of a Glen Powell-like competition wins a cameo for their parents, or any family member of their choice, in my next film . I’m totally serious.”
According to the United States of America Austin, Max Braunstein won the competition and took part in a video chat after the ceremony with Powell. Photos taken by the store revealed contestants arrived in cowboy hats which nodded to Powell’s character in TwistersTyler Owens.
