Meredith Gaureau, Late hockey player widow Johnny Gaureaureceived a stable promotion while attending a 2025 NHL draft.
At the Friday, June 27 event, held at the Peacock Theater in La Live in Los Angeles, Meredith took to the stage to announce the first round of Columbus Blue Jackets.
While on stage, Meredith received high approval and stable promotion from the crowd present in an emotional moment, the Today. The crowd also chanted her late husband to show their support.
Meredith took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported her and her family following the death of Blue Jacket Player Columbus Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaureau. The brothers and sisters died in August 2024 after being fatally struck by a drunken driver while riding bikes together. They were 31 and 29, respectively.
“I wanted to take this time to thank each individual team and every fan base for your support to my family last season,” said Meredith on stage, by photos published by Today. “It’s really honored to be here and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.”
The driver who struck the Gaurau brothers near their hometown of New Jersey, Sean HigginsNow facing six charges, including aggravated manslaughter and the killing of a di -hid vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty on all charges.
Only a day before were the deaths of Johnny and Matthew their sister Katie’s Marriage in Philadelphia, posted after the tragic incident. Both men were supposed to be married men at the ceremony. Since then Katie’s marriage has been rearranged until July 2025.

Meanwhile, Matthew’s widow, Madeline, gave birth to their first child In December 2024, naming him Tripp Matthew in his father’s honor.
Earlier this month, Meredith opened for her grief and spoke honestly for the moment she learned that her husband had died in a poignant letter issued in the Tribune players.
“I was in shock. I was kept over for days sick of my stomach,” he wrote in the letter, published on June 12.
The Columbus Blue Jackets released a statement shortly after reporting news of Johnny and Matthew Deaths.
“Columbus blue jackets are stunned and ruined by this inconceivable tragedy,” posted the franchise through X in August. “Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significant a loving father, son, brother and friend. We extend our warm sympathy with his wife, Meredith, his children Noah and Johnny, his parents, family and friends on the sudden death of Johnny and Matthew.”
