Donald Tusk announces plans for military training for all men in Poland

Works to force all men in Poland to undergo military training, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

In a speech to the Polish Parliament, Tusk stated that the government was aimed at full information in the coming months.

Efforts are being made to “prepare large-scale military training for every adult man in Poland,” he said Sejm.

“We will try to prepare the model by the end of this year for every adult man in Poland to be prepared in the event of a war to make this reserve a comparable and adequate potential threat.”

Tusk stated that there are 800,000 soldiers in the Ukrainian army, while in Russia about 1.3 million, and he wants to increase the size of the Polish army, including reservists, up to 500,000 out of about 200,000.

“We are talking about the need to have a half -million army in Poland, including reservists,” he said.

“It seems that when we are wisely organizing things, and I talk to the Defense Minister constantly, we will have to use several actions. This means that reservists, but also intensive training to force those who do not enter the army, fully filled and competent soldiers during the conflict,” he added.

Tusk said that women could also undergo military training, but “war, still more in the sphere of men.”

Poland already plans to spend 4.7% of its economic production this year, the highest share in the NATO alliance.

Tusk told Parliament that the costs should increase to 5% of GDP.

Previously, President Duda suggested changing the Constitution to make protection costs at 4% of GDP compulsory

The Prime Minister also said he supports Poland’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention, which forbids the use of antiperson mines, as well as perhaps from the Dublin Convention, which prohibits the use of cluster ammunition.
