US Justice Ministry (Doj) Starts investigation The city of Chicago Allegedly, for entry into the scheme of discrimination based on a race, which is a violation of the 1964 civil rights law.
Harmeet K. DhillonAssistant Prosecutor General in the Civil Rights Division DOJ, Monday sent a letter to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to inform him that an investigation into civil rights violations was open.
“Our investigation is based on information that suggests that you have made decisions only on the basis of race,” Dilon wrote. “In your statements made yesterday at the Apostolic Church of God in Woodlaun, you emphasized (ed) the number of black officials in (your) administration.”
Johnson was a guest at the Apostolic Church of God when he replied to critics who claim to say only about hiring black people.

“Not that I say when you hire our people, we always look at everyone. We are the most generous people on the planet,” he said.
Johnson continued to list leading officials in his administration, emphasizing their race.
For example, Johnson said his deputy mayor for business and economic neighborhood development is a black woman.
Other positions filled with black women spoken by Johnson include infrastructure mayor, budget director and commissioner for planning and development.

Johnson also emphasized the Chief Operational Director and Senior Advisor, as both positions are occupied by black men.
“You then said that you are” putting out “these positions” to “make sure that our people will get the opportunity to develop their business,” Dilon Johnson wrote. “Given these comments I have Authorized Investigation To determine whether the city of Chicago is engaged in the scheme or practice of discrimination as the above.
“If such hiring decisions are made at the higher level positions in your administration, then it raises the question whether such decisions are made for lower level positions,” she added.

Dhillon stressed that no conclusions were made in this matter and she welcomed his help in the investigation.
Johnson’s office did not respond to the Fox News Digital request for a commentary before the investigation.
In the past, the Mayor of Chicago made comments on races.

After President Donald Trump was elected for a second term, Johnson said during a press conference that the new president is a threat to black families in his city.
“His threat is not only about new arrivals and undocumented families. His threats are also against black families,” Johnson said. “We are going to protect black people, brown people, Asian people. Chicago will be better, stronger and safer, despite who is in the White House.”
