Genmoji, a smart combination”generative AI” and “emoji” is Apple’s latest addition to its Apple Intelligence suite. This feature uses the device’s artificial intelligence capabilities to create custom emojis based on your text descriptions.

Whether you’re looking for an “elephant riding a roller coaster” or a “tap-dancing shoe frog,” Genmoji can bring your fantasy to life in emoji form. You can even create emojis based on people in your Photos app, making your digital expressions more intimate and meaningful. This level of customization allows you to convey the nuances of emotions and situations that standard emoji simply can’t capture.

Compatibility and accessibility

It’s important to note that Genmoji is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models or devices with iPhone 16 line. This feature is part of the iOS 18.2 update that Apple recently released.

How to update your software to iOS 18.2 or later

First of all, let’s update your software to iOS 18.2 or later:

• Open Settings.
• Click General.
• Choose Software update.

How to use Genmoji

Using Genmoji is surprisingly simple:

• Open it Messaging application.
• The beginning of a a conversation
• Click emoji icon in the lower left corner of the keyboard.
• Then click emoji icon next to the text search bar.
• In the search field describe Genmoji you want to create like a top hat cat.
• Wait for the AI create your own emoji.
• Swipe through the options and choose your favorite.
• Click “Add” to insert your new emoji into a message. Then click arrow up.

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?

• After seeing the results of your initial description, you can change your Genmoji simply changing description on the new Genmoji screen.

How to create a Genmoji using a photo of a person

To create a Genmoji using a photo of a person from your gallery, follow these steps:

Make sure to tag the photos

First, make sure the person you want to use is listed in your Photos app. This is very important for creating Genmoji. You can only use people who are already in your contacts. This works best with sharp, front-facing photos where the person’s face is easily visible.

• Open Messages.
• Click emoji keyboard.
• Click Genmoji creation icon in the upper right corner of the keyboard.

Choose a person

• In the “Describe Genmoji” field, type the name of the person exactly as they are listed in your photo library.
• Click “Choose a man.”
• Choose a person from your identified Photo contacts.
• Click Ready.

Customize your Genmoji

• Add a descriptive contexteg “Danny celebrates his 35th birthday”.
• Swipe your finger across generated options to find the best representation.
• You can refine Genmoji by changing the description, such as changing “Danny at his birthday party” to “Danny in a party hat.”
• By tapping more (or the three horizontal dots) next to a Genmoji, you can a copy, share save in stickers and add a signature.
