Disabling electricity causes chaos in Spain and Portugal

On Monday, a massive inclusion was in force to most Spain and Portugal, which caused wide chaos and violations.

The shutdown left millions without electricity, while the Internet and telephone networks were also reduced.

Trains were canceled and evacuated in some regions, traffic lights stopped working against the background of delay at the airports.

As the scale of the breakdown became clear, the residents of Madrid were warned to stay, do not stay away from the roads and not call the emergency services when “really urgent”.

The Spanish operator said the electricity recovery would take up to 10 hours, while the Portugal’s energy firm said the return to full capacity could take up to a week.

The queues formed on the monetary apparatus because the card payments affected the shutdown and there were reports that some gasoline stations were closed.

Spanish media reports that some hospitals have implemented emergency plans, including the termination of ordinary work, the news reports.

The authorities were restored “in several districts of the north, south and west of (Iberian) peninsula,” said the Spanish network operator.

As the panic spread earlier that day, Madrid residents warned people not to stay on the roads.

In the video on social networks, the Mayor of the Spanish capital, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeid, ordered the residents “to keep their movements to an absolute minimum and, if possible, stay where they are. We want to keep all the roads clean.”

People should call emergency services only if it is “really relevant,” he said.

“If the emergency calls are unanswered, go to the police and fire stations personally, where they will try to fight all the extraordinary situations.”

Nuclear power plants in the country automatically stopped when it struck the obscuration, and the Spanish oil company Moeve said she stopped operations at refineries.

Flights, delay and cancellation at some airports also suffered. Easyjet said he experienced some violations of operations in Lisbon and Madrid. It states that the situation was “flowing” and ordered customers to check local advice.
