Director Palme D’Or, who won Jafar Panah’s returns home

The Iranian director was cheered at home after winning the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Jafar Panahi touched on Tehran’s international airport on Monday, two days after his victory for revenge was just by accident.

Panahi was in prison several times in Iran, most recently for protest against the detention of directors who criticize the authorities. It was his first visit to Kana for 15 years, where his films were shown in his absence from the ban on travel.

His winning film depicts torture in Iranian prisons and fired back between French and Iranian officials.

The faint director, who is now holding prizes from the three major European film festivals, was noticed by grinning and holding a bouquet of flowers when he hosted his friends.

Among the crowd was a colleague-director of Medi Nadari, who shared the frames at Instagram for a moment, calling the return of the “History”.

One person heard the “Woman, Life, Freedom” shouted when the Panah passed through the airport, Agence France-Presse reports. The phrase was a slogan for protests that broke out across Iran after the death of 22-year-old Makhs Amini in police care in 2022.

In his speech, Panahi said: “Most importantly, our country and freedom of our country” and called on Iranians “unite forces.”

“No one dares to tell us what kind of clothes we have to wear what we should do or what we should not do,” he said.

Winning the movie gave rise to Diplomatic string between French and Iranian officialsAfter French Foreign Minister Jean-Nael Barart dubbed him “a gesture of resistance against the oppression of the Iranian regime” in office on X.

Iran, Iran’s state media reported that the French diplomat was summoned to Tehran so that he could officially protest with comments as “abusive and unjustified”.

Return to Tehran fulfills the pledge of Panahs, speaking with journalists in Cannes.

“As soon as I finish my work, I will come back,” he said, adding, “I will ask myself what my next movie will be.”
