Diplo Was On LSD During CNN Live New Year’s Eve Special

“I’m so curious, what’s the most conventional place you’ve done LSD?” Cohen, 56, asked the DJ, 46, in a clip from the Tuesday, December 31 broadcast, shared through social media. Diplo, who was video chatting live from Los Angeles, laughed before admitting: “Right now. I did some on the helicopter on the way here. … I’m not even lying.”

His cheeky response caused Cohen and Cooper, 57, to burst out laughing. Cooper, for his part, was laughing so hard he couldn’t even speak. “Oh, my God! Hold on, hold on,” Cohen quipped. “Tell me—you’re tripping right now?”

Diplo simply replied, “Yes.” Back The Hollywood Reporterhe went on to explain that he was on a “light trip” after “microdosing” but possibly “macrodosed” earlier that day.

After feeling tired, Cooper went on to joke: “I wish I was Diplo. I have to say, I think he has a fun, cool lifestyle. Can you imagine his lifestyle? ‘I’m Diplo. I do things.’”

Cohen then asked if Cooper would follow the musician on Instagram after the broadcast. “I’m going to start at all. I mean … I feel bad about my own miserable life compared to Diplo’s,” Cooper replied. “It has helicopters and it’s like doing things. He did, like, four shots while we were talking. … and he’s going to play. How does it work? How does anyone do anything? I’ve had four shots. I want to go to sleep.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Diplo shared an Instagram Story clip of himself flying over LA in a helicopter. He later performed a handful of shows at the Avalon Hollywood nightclub in California.

Back in March 2023, Diplo revealed that he run the LA Marathon while on LSD, after adding drops of the substance into a water bottle the night before the big race. He finished with a time of three hours and 35 minutes.

“I do a lot of LSD, but I’m not tripping and looking at the stars going ‘Whaaa?’ I microdosed it, maybe a little more,” he said Squire in May 2023. “I was nervous before the race because 14 miles was the most I’ve ever run. But woke up late, put it in my water and drank it on the way to Dodger Stadium. It might be half a tab of acid.”

He attributed his performance to using LSD but noted that he “wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.” He explained: “I wanted to experiment. It made the time go by quickly, and the worst thing about running is how boring it is. It’s boring as hell.”

Diplo also told the outlet that he uses LSD to “wean” himself off alcohol. “I don’t like smoking weed either. But I eat less food than I used to,” he said of his diet. “I still eat bread and meat, milk. Those are things that don’t affect my body too much. I stay away from sugar. I try to do the basics, but I work out an hour or two a day, five days a week, if I can. I feel normal when I’m sweating.”
