Delhi Premier League (DPL) returns for her second season, promising a more exciting edition than her debut. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Simarjeet Singh, became the most expensive player in the 2025 players auction, which is more than Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Spinner Digvesh Rathi.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced the expansion of the Delhi Premier League of six to eight teams for next season. Two new franchises, Outer Delhi Warriors and Nova Delhi Tigers, were added to the tournament.
They will join North Delhi Strikers, Central Delhi Kings, Purani Dilli, West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders and South Delhi Superstarz for a more competitive edition and full of T20 League action.

Simarjeet Singh attracted the interest of several franchises, including South Delhi, North Delhi, and West Delhi Lions at the DPL 2025 auction. The price reached $ 39 Lakh before it was finally collected by Delhi Kings.
Digvesh Rashi, who was priced at 10 lakes, also caused a fierce tender war between Purani Dilli and South Delhi Superstarz. Rashi was sold to South Delhi Superstarz by 38 ₹ Lakh, making him one of the most expensive signings of the auction.
Simarjeet has collected 11 doctors in 14 IPL games at an average of 36.36 and a 10.00 economy rate. In the meantime, Digvesh Rashi debuted at the IPL for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, taking 14 doctors in 13 games at an average of 30.64 and an 8.25 economy rate.

Each franchise of the Men’s Delhi Delhi Delhi DPL, entered with a 1.5 ₹ crore purse. The cost of the retained players was deduced from this amount. Above all, the franchises were allowed to use a right to match card (RTM) during the auction to retain a player who received offers from other teams.
The auction set was divided into three categories based on the player’s experience and age. Category A is reserved for senior players, including those who have experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) or experience at the state level.
Category B consists of cricketers under the age of 23 and under 19, while category C includes emerging talents under the age of 16. Only players registered in the Delhi and the District Cricket Association (DDCA) were eligible to be part of the auction.
Among the notable delays before the season, East Delhi’s riders preserved Himmat Singh, their winning captain of the title. Purani Dilli won India’s team, Wicketkeper Rishabh Pant’s whicketketer as a retained player.
