“Since the investigation began on March 21 we have found important pieces of evidence that have led us to carry out two operations and gather different types of evidence – digital, documentary, testimonial, and more,” added álvarez Barboza.
As part of the investigation, the Office of the Prosecutor and Judicial Police needs to “decide whether the hotel had any deliberate or negligent participation where the minors may have been exposed to harmful substances.”
Álvarez Barboza said interviews “within that investigation line, aimed at collecting evidence” were held with individuals at the destination, but conducted “no suspects have been identified.”
“The investigation is not referred to any individual,” said the prosecutor. “We are fully focused on gathering the necessary evidence and information.”
As the investigation continues, the Gardner family has been held ahead of all developments.
“We understand that the family employed a law firm here at Costa Rica, and through which they have received information,” said álvarez Barboza. “Throughout the progress of the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office has conducted regular communication with them and has informed them of the investigation procedures in the case, where they are recognized as victims.”

Gardner’s family Miller’s death announced on March 23 in a statement released by the Yankees.
“With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller. He was 14 and has left us far too soon after becoming ill along with several other family members while on holiday,” read the statement.
The family continued, “Miller was a dear son and brother and we could not yet understand our life without his infectious smile. He loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, family and friends. He lived life to the full every day.”
