Former Indian captain and one of cricket’s most famous icons MS Dhoni recently shared his thoughts on PR and social media, giving valuable advice to the younger generation. Known to keep a low profile, Dhoni revealed that he has never felt the need to chase fame or fans.
In the modern era, many cricketers obsess over building their social media presence, but the legendary wicketkeeper batsman firmly believes that doing well in cricket is the best PR anyone can have.

He noted that success on the field speaks louder than any number of posts or followers. The former Indian captain revealed that he had different coaches throughout his career and even though they kept pushing for PR, he never paid attention to them as he always believed in the one philosophy that his game had to be enough to make a noise among the fans.

MS Dhoni told the Eurogrip Tires YouTube channel: “Throughout, I’ve had different managers, and every manager says, you should do some PR, build this, build that. So I looked all my different managers and I had the same answer. You know, if I play cricket well, I don’t need to put something on. So I always say, you know, if I have something , I will put it If I don’t have anything, I won’t put it in. So it takes the stress out of it, too.”

MS Dhoni digs into PR obsessed players
MS Dhoni, the only winner of every ICC trophy as a captain, stressed that if the players focus on excelling at their job inside the 22 yards, everything else will fall into place. She believes that the pressure to maintain a certain image on social media can be overwhelming, and is totally necessary.
He noted: “I don’t worry about who has how many followers or who does what, because I know that if I take care of cricket, everything else will take care of itself. If you are doing what you are doing really well, then why do you need all this incredible answer?”
The iconic cricketer also took a subtle dig at those players who are more concerned about their PR than their performances. He noted that social media can easily distract players, especially when they start worrying too much about likes, comments and opinions.

He also explained: “I’m not saying it’s a bad thing; people shouldn’t do it, but at the same time, if it’s not you, don’t do it. In the sense of that, if you’re distracted by that, if you feel, if you’re among the person reading the comments or the response, and then if there’s certain bad things that will be part of that, then you feel bad.”
Dhoni also stressed that social media may not be the right path for those affected by negative comments, advising the younger generation to stay true to themselves, focus on their craft and that the results speak for themselves, as in the end. , real success never needs a filter.
She signed off by saying, “So if you know that’s what’s going on, you know, that’s not right for you. So, you know, be careful about whether it’s helping you, or whether it’s dragging you down down. So if you get the right answer, do the right thing.”
