Diane Sawyer He remembered a recent visit to Bruce Willis In the midst of his battle with Frontotemporal dementia.
Sawyer, 79, sat down for an emotional conversation with Willis’s wife, Emma Heming Willison abc’s Emma and Bruce Willis: the unexpected journeybroadcast on Tuesday, August 26. The pair talked about how Willis’s friends continue to visit the actor in his homeApart from the house where Heming Willis, 47, lives mainly with their two daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11.
“We’re there a lot,” Emma explained from the living situation. “It is Our second homeSo the girls have their things there. It’s a house full of love and warmth and care and laughter, and it’s been lovely to see that, to see how many Bruce’s friends continue to show over it, and they bring in life and fun. “
Although Willis, 70, did not physically appear in the special, Sawyer spoke of visiting him on her own time.
“As friends can come over, Emma gave me a gift. I went to see Bruce without cameras just to honor all those memories over all those years,” said Sawyer in voice as pictures of Willis flashed on screen.
Sawyer visited the one story home with a producer that Willis “always loved.” (Willis lives at home, which is located close to where Heming Willis lives with the girls, with a full -time care team.)
“As we walked up, he seemed happy and, as Emma, walking, healthy,” Sawyer told the viewers. “We sat on a couch outside, and at one time, without words, it took my hand. I spoke about the old days and saw flashes of that irreversible smile.”

“Can’t you find someone for me? Can you find a girl for me? You just meet so many people,” said the actor in the clip before meeting Heming Willis.
Willis married Heming Willis in 2009, but even after the Nuptials, he declared proudly that he “always” pressed on Sawyer. It became a running joke between Sawyer and the Willis family every time he saw them.
Willis’s family revealed that he was diagnosed with Afasia, a language disorder, in March 2022, causing him to retire from acting. They announced publicly that his condition moved on to Dementia Frontotemporal, a rare type of disease that causes communication and behavioral challenges, in February 2023.
Heming Willis shared an update on her husband’s health and shared how the family has been coping with his disease. (Willis shares Rumer Girls, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore.)
“Bruce is still very mobile,” Heming Willis told Sawyer. “Bruce is in great health in general. Only his brain fails him. The language is going. We’ve learned to adapt, and we have a way of Communicating with itwhich is just a different way. “
