New information has shown this NYPD officers were called to Karen Sackett’s home nine times before the 47-year-old was found dead and decomposed in her home days after her birthday.
Sackett, a dental hygienist, was found in her longtime home owned by nearby Iona University on Nov. 4, 2024. News 12 Westchesterreferring to family interviews.
Sackett lived in New Rochelle with her boyfriend, who worked at the university.
“They were having problems and she wanted to get away from him,” said Sackett’s brother, Chris Sackett.

Documents seen by Fox News Digital revealed the couple’s tumultuous relationship from 2017 to 2023. Before police found her on Nov. 4, 2024, authorities came to their shared residence nine times for welfare checks, disputes and alleged domestic violence.
In one alleged domestic violence incident, Sackett called the police on July 12, 2018, complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath “due to an assault on her boyfriend.”
She later told the police in a “very low voice” that she called because she needed a “detox” from him. Police did not press charges, saying Sackett was “completely uncooperative.”
In other cases, the police were called due to domestic disputes.
Recent 911 call logs reviewed by Fox News Digital also showed two Social Security checks were made on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26.

University staff allegedly stumbled upon Sackett’s decomposing body when they were evicting her from a shared house owned by local university.
The boyfriend, who has not been identified by police, was out of state at the time of her death, a local newspaper reported, citing police.

Police are continuing to investigate the death, saying it appears she died of natural causes. The Westchester Medical Examiner is preparing a toxicology report to determine Sackett’s cause of death.
In their obituary, the Sackett family remembered her as a devoted dental hygienist and a “bright soul” who loved her family and friends.
“Karen was a dedicated dental hygienist known for her gentle touch, kindness and genuine concern for her patients. She found joy in making others feel at ease and was deeply committed to her work, often brightening her patients’ days with her welcoming smile,” – says the obituary.
“Outside of work, Karen was a bright soul with many passions. She had an impeccable sense of style and a love of fashion, always bringing her own unique flair wherever she went. Karen had a natural eye for photography, capturing the beauty of everyday moments and turning them into cherished memories, she loved her family the most and held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and nephews who brought her endless joy.’

The obituary noted that dog SackettChloe, died a few days after her owner died, which the obituary said brings “comfort to think they may be reunited.”
