Leaving Skye recall a scary moment in her life.
The Rupaul’s drag race Alum, 35, reflected on her decision to undergo weight loss surgery in 2023. Skye traveled to Mexico to get liposugno and tuck belly, and ended up returning to hospital more than once after she said she had experienced blood clots that affected her ability to walk.
“It wasn’t a very good experience, if I’m being honest,” said Skye on Drag Rupaul Race All Stars During the Show Friday Premiere episode, May 9. “My body was like, ‘No.’ He was crazy, like, I almost died. “
“If I am 1,000% honest, no one went to me and gone, ‘You need to lose weight.’ I just arrived in my head and I over-cast, ”he continued. “’Maybe it would help my career? Maybe it would help drag me?’ And really, I got it all before.
Skye went on to explain that she wished she had not finally made the trip. “Do I regret it? I do. Obviously I’m thinner, but I almost died on that table. And made me realize that the voices in my head can be the worst enemy of f *** ing, and I want to make better move on.”
In the episode on Friday, Skye told her competitors Aja. Irene the alien. Bosco. Olivia lux and Phoenix that she is still struggling with her sense of self-worth and how much she is concerned about the views of others.
“I always feel like I’m not good enough. I don’t know where it comes from,” he said. “I don’t know why I can’t let myself be happy for myself. For some reason, I’m too worried about what people think.”
In January 2024, Skye revealed On Instagram Exactly what happened after she went to Mexico. Her skin began to turn yellow after the surgery, she explained, which prompted her to seek care.
“I had to go back to hospital and have three blood transfusions,” he said. “I had lost a lot of blood.” She returned to the United States two weeks later and eventually was placed on blood thinners to help treat clots in her legs and lungs.
“I couldn’t catch a break,” he explained. “My body is probably not equipped for surgery – is it perhaps something I didn’t realize because I had never gone through any surgery before. But it has been one thing after the other.”
“My body goes through a crazy amount of trauma,” added Skye. “Recovery is a very slow process, I didn’t think about that … everyone I’m talking to like, ‘It will be worth it.’ It’s hard to look to the future when you’re in pain.
