Classical film 1982 ET: THE EXCELLENT could have gone in a very different way – at least, that’s the star of the movie Dee Wallace revealing.
“(Originally) a whole B story Et relating to Et Have a love relationship with Mary – love ‘crush’ on Mary, ”says Wallace Steve Kmmeko on the episode Monday, April 28, of his “Still Herewood” podcast.
“There are not many pieces of it left there. There was a scene where he came in to put Reese pieces down on my table when my bed asleep,” he added. “Well, Mr Spielberg wanted the sheet a little lower than I was comfortable with.”
Wallace said she had to stand her ground and eventually brought them in to help argue her point.
“I argued my point that this was a family film. I could understand the parents smoking pot in a poltergeist,” he continued. “But this movie was very pure to me. And it was about love. And so we called in (producer) Kathleen Kennedy and (writer) Melissa (Mathison)Our beautiful, amazing writer, and they said, ‘We are kind of agreement with her, Steven.’ “
“So we compromised,” Wallace concluded, “and pulled the sheet up almost my shoulder blades, which I was right.”
The actress also included another tidbit about filming the film-she first improved the scene where her character discovers that her ex-husband is traveling to Mexico with a new love.
“Steven came over to me and said, ‘Dee, why did you get up and leave? It’s not in the script.’ And I explained what happened. “
