Firefighters at Muan International Airport in South Korea, the site of the Jeju Air plane that crashed on approach on Dec. 29, killing 179 people. The Boeing 737-800, which flew from Bangkok, was used by South Korea’s most popular low-cost airline. Only two crew members survived the crash, making it the deadliest air crash on South Korean soil.

Hilde Dazon completes her 366th marathon in 2024 in Ghent, Belgium in aid of the BIG Breast Cancer Research Group. Dazon broke the unofficial Guinness World Record in May 2024 by completing her 151st consecutive daily marathon.

US police believe that an explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day was not connected to a fatal car crash in New Orleans. The driver of a Tesla Cybertruck was killed and seven others injured in Las Vegas after a vehicle filled with fuel canisters and mortars exploded.
