The Hoya Oscar promoter has confirmed today that the plans are for the Light Interim Champion of WBC, William Zepeda, to challenge Shakur Stevenson for the full belt at the end of this year after he faced Tevin Farmer in a resale this Saturday night, on March 29, in Cancun, Mexico.
De la Hoya says Zepeda (32-0, 27 kos) wants all the most important boys after he deals with Farmer (33-7-1, 8 kos) in his 12-round holder, Live in Dazn. Zepeda, 28, is going through an ancient land, fighting the farmer in a resale to erase the controversy over his ten -round victory in his previous struggle on November 16 on the Latin night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Shakur has practically requested a fight against Zepeda, as he and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, feel that it is a logical progression competition that leads to a fight against unification against the Light WBA champion, Gervonta Davis.
“Shakur is a harsh man to beat but not impossible. His style is very difficult,” said Oscar de la Hoya Fighthype When asked if William Zepeda could beat Shakur Stevenson. “Obviously, this (Josh) Padley Guy who fought gave him some problems here and there.
“Maybe Shakur hit himself a little more than he expected he was hit because Padley arrived at Gun’s hustle and bustle. Then Shakur had some problems with his hand. I saw him shake his right hand. Shakur is an incredible talent, but the plans are fighting against Tevin Farmer in Cancun and then going after everyone.”
Shakur struck more than usual because he was ready to stay in his pocket against Josh Padley because he knew he faced a weak Opponent of British domestic level replacement.
At this opponent level, Stevenson was forced to stay in his pocket because if he had used his normal four-foot approach, he would never have heard the end of the reaction. Shakur was still bad against Padley because the struggle showed that he had no power and could be hit when he did not run.
You can only imagine how poor Stevenson would have seemed like he had agreed to fight the Cuban contestant Herrera CoresOne of the other options was in favor of the soft selection padley.
“This is the type of fights that Zepeda wants, Shakur Stevenson, the best. Today’s boxing is about business, and I don’t like it and I hate it. Many fighters are prices that are taken, and big fights have no place. I really think Shakur wants to be fantastic and he wants to fight the best. I think the same by William Zepeda.
“This year it will be a struggle for the path we are going to see, and we are going to do and it will be a great struggle. William is ready to face anyone. It is at this time in his career where he is ready to face anyone,” he said of Hoya.
