David Warner named 48th Australian Test captain ahead of Sri Lanka Tests


Former Australian national cricket team batsman David Warner shared his view on who should captain the team during the Sri Lanka series if Steve Smith is unfit. He backed Travis Head to take over the role, saying the batsman will do a great job for the team.

The series between the teams will begin on January 29, followed by the second game of the series to be played on February 6. Both the matches will be played at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.

Smith injured his right arm while fielding for the Sydney Sixers in their sweep against the Sydney Thunder on Friday. He looked in pain and things did not look good for him as he came off the field, increasing the tension for the Australian team.

The injury also forced Smith not to travel with the Australian national cricket team for the training camp in Dubai ahead of the two-match series against the Sri Lankan national cricket team. The right-hander will seek advice from a specialist before boarding the flight.

Recently, Cricket Australia also stated Steve Smith, saying that they are hopeful that the batsman will recover and join the team soon. But there is no guarantee whether he will play the series and recover in time for the series.

“I don’t think he’d say much. He’ll just make changes when he feels like it, he’ll be fine. He’s done the job for South Australia for a long time too. He’s got a good head. his shoulders.”
