David Beckham Talks About Prince William Friendship: ‘Always been there’

David Beckham opened up about his association with Prince Williamsaying he has “always been there” when the royal needs him.

Beckham, 49, spoke about the Prince of Wales, 42, during an appearance at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, January 21.

In a video shared by the Daily Mailthe self-described king gushed about being able to do charity work and volunteering with William and his father, King Charles III76.

“Over the years, I’ve done a lot with the Prince of Wales,” Beckham said.

“I’ve always been there when he’s asked me to be involved in things. Whether it’s veterans, whether it’s the London Air Ambulance Service, we raised money to get two new helicopters for London,” he said.

Beckham continued: “These are the things… when I was a kid, I used to see the helicopters going over, and you knew exactly what they were going to do. They were on their way to a crisis. So being part of that has always been a ‘yes’ for me.”

“Whenever the Prince of Wales sends me a message and says, ‘I need you to do this,’ or ‘Be there,’ it’s always ‘yes,'” she added.

Beckham also spoke about his involvement with Charles’ charity, The King’s Trust, for which he was appointed ambassador in June. The organization provides resources and support for young people in the UK between the ages of 11 and 30 to “develop essential life skills, prepare for work, and access work opportunities,” according to its website.

“When the king asked me to be part of his foundation, I was very honoured, very privileged,” Beckham said, revealing that his mother “broke down in tears” when she shared the news.

The football star’s relationship with the royal family spans more than a decade. Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, attended the wedding of William and Princess Kate Middleton in 2011 and the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022, Beckham waited for more than 12 hours to see the royal coffin in Westminster Abbey in London.

More recently, David and Victoria Beckham attend the state banquet at Buckingham Palace in December 2024.
