When the sirens went through Israel on the early Saturday morning, Iphat Benaim and her family collided in their basement.
“We closed the door, and suddenly there was such a big boom,” she says. “I thought the whole house fell on us.”
When they appeared in a few minutes, they found their windows broken, and the layers of dust and debris were scattered across the front room.
On their quiet suburban street in Rishona Lesion, south of Tel -Vaviv, the roofs of several houses were drowning. The glass flooded the road. At least 30 machines were badly damaged, with broken windows and huge dents.
The Iranian rocket impressed shortly after 5:00 local time (03:00 BST).
It happened amid six waves of Iranian attacks in one night – launched in response to large -scale Israeli air strikes on Iran – who have sent millions of people running for asylum.
Two were killed in Rishona Lesion, with one Israeli media 73-year-old Israel Alani. About 19 people were injured.
The ambulance and rescue crews arrived shortly after hitting the rocket. Dogs -Rvers were used to search among broken concrete and perverted metal for any unspecified projectile.
Now, Ephaat, her husband Zion and six younger relatives collect everything they can from the house in which they have lived for 29 years – and try to decide where they will stay in the coming days.
One of their neighbors, who did not want him to be called, said he decided to stay with her daughter that night – just in case. This may have saved her life.
Another local, 48-year-old Sally Ilan, squeezed some utensils that she managed to save from the ruins of her parents’ home.
“It was the first house that was built in the neighborhood,” she says, showing it. “My father was so ready to build it.”
“Forty years of memories disappeared … It’s very difficult.”
In total, three people were killed across the country for the night – two here in Rishona Lesion, one in the neighboring city of Ramas Gan. About 76 were injured.
But destruction – even in these worst directions – is limited compared to what was noticed in Iran.
“Operation” Israel “began at the beginning of Friday with the murder of senior Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Since then, it has expanded that Iran’s nuclear facilities, missiles, air defense, military bases, airport and other infrastructure have hit.
On Friday evening, Iran said that 78 people were killed at that moment. On Saturday, an Iranian official of the Ministry of Health said that about 800 people were injured.
Iranian state television reported that 60 people – including 29 children – were killed in an Israeli quarter of apartments in the capital, Tehran.
In Rishan Lesion, near the worst houses, someone wrote the question in a layer of dust on the windshield: “By the time?”
This conflict may be less than 48 hours – but this is a question that is now asked by most of the world.
