CPI inflation April 2025:

Inflation was slightly lower than expected in April, as President Donald Trump’s tariffs just started to beat a slow US economy, the Department of Labor said on Tuesday.

The consumer price index, which estimates the expenses for a wide range of goods and services, increased by 0.2% per month, putting a 12-month inflation level of 2.3%, the Labor Statistics Bureau said. Monthly reading corresponded to the Dow Jones consensus evaluation and a slightly below the annual forecast by 2.4%.

With the exception of volatile food and energy prices, the main IPC also increased by 0.2% a month, while the level for the year was 2.8%. The forecast was 0.3% and 2.8% respectively.
