Mixed Martial Arts, Connor McGregor, said he no longer seeks to participate in the presidential election in the Irish presidential month next month.
Its announcement on Monday happened a few hours before it was related to the meetings of the Dublin City Council and the County Council, where it sought to provide the nominations required for his name in the ballot.
In a report on the social media, McGregor said the decision to withdraw his name came “after careful reflection and after consultation with my family.”
On October 24, Ireland will head to the polls, and so far, three candidates have provided support for Irish lawmakers or local authorities to compete.
Presidential hopes should be a citizen of Ireland at the age of 35 and older, and to demand the approval of at least 20 MPs of the Irish Parliament, Oirehas or four of the 31 local Ireland authorities.
McGregor, a former champion fighter who has not competed professionally since July 2021, said: “It was a difficult decision, but it is right at that moment.”
A 37-year-old boy, who first promised to run for the presidency last year, said he was “truly humiliated” by “support and encouragement” he received.
He said that the rules of the election were “strait”, which prevented “a real democratic presidential election challenged.”
Earlier this year, McGregar lost the civil jury’s appeal Against the conclusion that he had sexual attacks on the woman he denied.
Nikita Hand accused McGregor of rape at Dublin in 2018. In November 2024, she won her claim against him for the damage in the civil case.
McGregor was ordered to pay 206,000 pounds plus costs on MS Hand.
Future presidential candidates have by September 24 to provide the support required to get to the vote and the three still have done so.
