Football and basketball coaches are experts for hours.
Just as legislators.
Coaches are agile either burning or saving enough time on the clock to perform a performance – or preventing another team do so.
Congressional management is very different.
Trump $ 3.3t Megabill sets a house record for the longest voting in history
Whatever the legislators say, what they will do – it will always take them a deep longer period of time when to do it.
This is why the temporary passage policy of the president Donald Trump“Big, Beautiful Bill” has overcome all who have been working on the Capitol hill over the past few weeks.
This varies from the legislators themselves to assistants, journalists, the guardians of the Capitol and the US police officers.
Wit:
Congress -Republicans have overcome the changes of the framework and iterations of the great, beautiful bill since February. But everything finally became serious when the House received its official version of the package on May 22, beating a four -day memory goal.
It was a chatter that the Senate would decide the House’s package during the week of June 9. Then it fell a week on June 15. The idea was that the Senate processes its version of the bill this week, and then allowed the House to synchronize during June 22.
Then these hopes were spoiled.
This cannot be said that the Senate has at least voted to start even starting the discussion at the very end of June 15.
That’s what really happened. And this emphasizes how long the process can be on the Capitol hill, especially with very complicated and controversial legislation.
On Monday, June 23, republican senators spoke about the adoption of procedural voting to launch a big, beautiful bill on Wednesday or Thursday, June 25 or 26. But the bill was not ready. Republicans still made and made a bill on drafting the Senate budget rules. GOP is also aimed at writing the legislation in court 51 yeas to hack the procedural obstacle and officially launch a discussion.
The middle of the week came and the Senate never took procedural voting. Sens. Ron Johnson, Vis., And Tom Tilis, RN.C., opposed the start of discussions on a bill that was not complete.
Thus, in the middle of the week on the weekend, and when the Senate was convened on Saturday, June 28, Fox News said the House would be a procedural vote to start a discussion at about 4pm.
“Big, Beautiful Bill” Senate Republicans Rama Trump through key test voices
Well, you guessed.
The Senate did not cause this vote until 7:31 pm on Saturday. And a 15-minute vote turned into a three-hour and 38-minute business. The Senate closed the vote at 23:09
On Saturday – with Vice President J. D. Vens when his services were needed to break the tie.
They weren’t.
At least not on margaro.
But Vnes played a key role in talks with Johnson, Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla., And others to Greenlight Senate starting with the bill.
However the minority leader in the Senate Chuck ShumerDn.Y., then forced the Senate clerks to read the entire 540-page bill in the voice of margaro. This company consumed just under 16 hours of floor time. Clerks – their voices crack and hoarse – ended a few minutes after 15:00 on Sunday. This was noted for the first time when the senator demanded from the employees to read the bill before the Senate since 2021.
So, when the clerks completed their oratorio, it was believed that the Senate could go all night with the marathon-known voting session as a “vote-a-Rama” -and try to finish the bill somewhere before dawn on Monday.
But this is the time of Congress.
Senators did not even start voting in the frame until 9:40 on Monday. Twenty hours later, the leader of the majority of the Senate John Tun, the resident, suggested that it was time to “start finding out” the final amendments needed to complete the bill.
Some launched the concepts. One senator told Fox News that after 12 hours the game was a little late to “start finding out” something like that.
Then the Senate worked overnight on Monday and Tuesday. Tun and GOP management finally made a deal with Senators Lisa Murkovsky, Alaska, in rural hospitals to marshal her vote. The Senate approved the bill late on Tuesday morning after the session throughout the night. Vens returned to break the tie in what is called Van Halen’s vote. The count was 50-50 since the three GOP senators were redone. But Vens voted in favor of the “51-50” call.
For those who are inexperienced in Van Halen’s discography, “5150” was Van Halen’s first album with the new soloist Sammy Hagar, who supplanted David Lee Rot. He went to number 1 on Billboard Charts.
Then it went to the house.
The House of Advanced Mass Bill Trump after the cave of Liberty Caves
The Committee on the Rules of the House of Representatives serve the gateway for the legislation to head to the floor. He convened the meeting on Tuesday’s early day. Soon the Senate will send an updated version of a large, beautiful bill through the Capitolian dome to make the house aligned. Then the Committee on the Rules continued to meet until about 1am on Wednesday, preparing the bill on the floor.
This meant that the house could vote by late Wednesday.
But there was a problem.
GOP leaders found that they called a “technical mistake” in the rule. The whole house must first approve the rule before discussing the legislation on the floor. Thus, the ward first had to vote for the correction. This voting began on the early day on Wednesday – and lasted another seven hours and 31 minutes. This created a record for the longest voting in the history of a home in the history of the house, heading the vote in seven hours and 21 minutes in 2021.
Some Republicans were not in the Capitol. But they voted open to buy time to work on the GOP skeptical member that could be retained.
And around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike JohnsonR-La., Decided to double the dog, daring to those who were against the bill to put their voting card where the mouth was. The Republicans’ leaders closed the “technical correction” and continued the vote on the “rule”. If the House adopted the rule, he could formally discuss the bill. The house was stuck when its members could not approve the rule.
The board of the counting board behind the troop in the house of the house is relatively quickly inhabited. All 216 Democrats said there were no four GOP votes – and several who refused to vote so. Republicans could only lose three votes and are still taking the rule. Res. Thomas Massi, Resp. Then he did not go when the voting stretched. However, the mass eventually supported the rule after all.

Rap. Victoria Sport, R-V., Keith Sam, R-Texas, Andrew Clyde, R-GA., And Brian Fitzpatrick, P-P, were not votes throughout the vote. But at about 1 am there was a movement. The maintenance and some of those who did not voted did not meet with Johnson and other GOP leaders. This seemed to release the voices of opponents and opponents – with the exception of Fitzpatrick.
But there was a problem.
Res. Scott Perry, R-PA. – Who did not vote – went home to Pennsylvania. Therefore, everyone in the Capitol was patiently waiting for perry. He did around 3:30 am on Thursday. All but Fitzpatrick voted as a block in favor of the rules. There were voices in the house to start a discussion by the rule.
It looked as if the house could vote around the dedication on the actual bill.
But the office of the leader’s minority at home Hockey JeffristDn.Y., on Wednesday told Fox News that Jeffreis intended to speak for an hour or so at the end of the discussion. The house is customary where the leading leaders of both sides give a “minute” to perform on the floor. But this is a “magic moment”. As a courtesy to these leaders, they say they want.
Jeffris started talking a little earlier than 5am on Thursday – and finally ended eight hours and after 45 minutes only after 13:30 ET on Thursday. Jeffris smashed a mark of eight hours 32 minutes created by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, Caliph.
Thus, the participants of the house, who hope to go to the morning flight and return home on July 4, were to wait.

Mike Johnson didn’t talk almost as long as Jeffrist. But he noted that the late President Ronald Reagan once said that no speech should take more than 20 minutes.
Johnson talked 23 minutes.
And then the house voted, finally passing the bill 218-214 at 14:31 on Thursday. Fitzpatrick and Massie were the only GOP noes.
It is said that we never have enough time in life. And if you work on the Capitol Hill, you will probably have even less thanks to the Congress hours.
