On Tuesday night, the comedian reminded CNN of the difficult part of the past when New Year’s Eve hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen suggested he star.
“Oh, no. No, I’m not. The last black person to drink at that chain was fired,” said Roy Wood Jr., who is known for his “Daily Show” appearances. “I’m going to leave it in the water for now. I need stability.”
Wood appears to have been referring to former host Don Lemon, who attended the channel’s New Year’s Eve event during his show and drank during the report. However, visitors to Times Square Michael Ian Black and Amber Ruffin did not refuse the offer of a shot.

Lemon was fired CNN in 2023 after a series of controversies and difficulties at the recently launched AM show “CNN This Morning.”
The left-leaning host was pushed out of his prime-time spot to become part of a three-person team on then-CEO Chris Licht’s revamped morning program, but the show never took off.
Lemon memorably angered network colleagues in 2023 when he suggested Nikki Haley, then 51, was no longer “in the prime of life”.. At the time, Haley spoke presciently about the age of President Biden, who a year later was kicked out of the race by members of his own party.
Lemon lasted another two months before Licht dumped him. Licht himself was shown the door in June of the same year.
Freshly made lemon media headlines with his blistering attack on Donald Trump supporters amid a split among part of his base over H-1B visas.

“You’ve been co-opted because you belong to a goddamn cult and you don’t even realize it because you have a stupid MAGA brain and you don’t understand it,” he said. “How stupid and dumb are you?”
He stood by his comments on his YouTube show on Tuesday, saying his critics were “vehement”.
“I don’t mean all Trump supporters,” Lemon said. “I’m talking to people with MAGA minds who will say and do anything to find an excuse for any behavior by Donald Trump, any bad behavior by the MAGA movement.”
He continued: “So, yes, I stand by my word! And if you don’t like what I said, that’s too bad, I don’t care!”
Lemon also called it “hypocritical” for Trump supporters to attack him for his language while defending their “cult leader.”
“That’s what you’re confused about. You expect more from me, an independent journalist and former cable news anchor, than from a man sitting in the Oval Office. Because his mouth is worse than mine,” Lemon said.
Lemon also attacked Time magazine last month for choosing Trump as its cover Man of the yearcalling the choice a “joke.”

“If they wanted to make someone Man of the Year, I don’t know, they could have done it with any person. They could have done it with someone who is actually pro-democracy, who is pro-democracy in the country.” – said Lemon.
