Cole Palmer ends the drought of the target with a penalty for Chelsea against Liverpool and says “does not happen”

Cole Palmer retreated to his social media critics and admitted that “sh*t” after finishing his long-term drought at Chelsea 3-1 victory over Liverpool this afternoon.

It was the first goal of Palmer in 19 games and he deserved richly after a brilliant exhibition that was too much for Liverpool’s manipulation.

The England International had already played a key role in Chelsea’s first two goals before putting his name on the score sheet for the first time since mid -January with a stop penalty.

Virgil Van Dijk scored Liverpool’s goal, but it was Palmer’s Day when Chelsea advanced in points with Newcastle in the fight for a champion league place.

Palmer: I felt normal

Asked how he felt standing about the point of view, the former Manchester City player said to Sky Sports: “I felt normal. Obviously, it did not happen, I spent three months without scoring, but it only gives me more struggle and motivation to do more for me and the team.

“Today, social media is full of idiots, the trolls and anything. I do not presume any attention. I have scored today and I am happy, but it is only one and I must continue to improve and try to reach new levels.”

Palmer admitted that he had been struggling to handle his recent steric spell.

He added: “Have possibilities and not score, I think you leave your team. I feel like I’m mentally strong. I am proud to help the team and, if I don’t, I’m not happy.”

There is no motivation from Liverpool – Van Dijk

Liverpool was far from the best, but Captain Van Dijk insisted that there was no lack of motivation despite gaining the title last weekend.

The Ombudsman of the Netherlands said, “There was a chance to score; in the end they deserve the victory. This is the disappointing one when we came here to win.

“Obviously we tried, but it was not fantastic. The way we form -the sharpness we had, everyone was ready for it.

“We knew it would sometimes be hard. We could have done better in the way we defended as a team, but we will analyze it tomorrow and prepare for the next game.”

He added: “We are lucky that we have not lost so many games in the league and that hurts. And it should hurt.

“Even when the job is done, we came here to try to get a good result. You have to hurt. I’m definitely disappointed.”
